The rules and groups for theScore esports Brooklyn Beatdown at ESL One New York

TheScore esports Brooklyn Beatdown kicks off this weekend at Barclays Center in New York with hundreds of players beginning their battle for fame, glory and a share of the US$75,000 prize pool. Before the games begin, check out the full ruleset as well as the groups for the tournament.

Rules

Registration

  • All players must be registered in advance in order to be eligible to compete via http://esl.gg/2cionmR
  • The tournament is capped at 256 participants. In the case of a cap, you can join the waiting list via http://esl.gg/2cionmR
  • Registration fees are NON-refundable & NON-transferable.

Seeding

  • All players will be seeding by Capcom Pro Tour points and region. Each player will be placed in the bracket in a manner that minimizes the chances of playing an opponent in your region.

  • Console: Playstation 4

  • Best 2/3 | Best 3/5 Top 16 Onward

  • Game Mode: Versus (NO Handicap)
  • Rounds: 2/3
  • Round Time: 99 Seconds
  • Victory Settings: First to 2 | First to 3 Top 16 Onward

  • LEGACY CONTROLLER MODE IS BANNED

Characters & Stages

  • Urien is BANNED
  • Training stage is BANNED
  • Kanzuki Beach stage is BANNED

Match Play

  • Sides

    • Higher seed will be allowed to choose which side of the console they will play on (1P & 2P).

  • Character Select (Standard, Double Blind)
  • Standard Selection
  • Both players select their character whenever they want.

  • Double Blind Selection
  • Either player must request a double blind selection before characters are selected.
  • When a double blind is requested, player 1 (left side) will tell the admin what character they are selecting.
  • Player 2 will then select his/her character. Player 1 will then select the  character he told the admin he would select.
  • Once players have selected sides, stage and characters, the match must be played.
  • Players have a maximum of 60 seconds between each game in a set.
  • The match is over after an opponent has won the required number of games for that specific round.
  • The winner of the match must report the score to the admin immediately.
  • During a set, if a game is lost, the loser has the option of switching characters. The winner does not have this option.
  • Coaching players during matches is NOT ALLOWED.
  • All players MUST disconnect their controller once their match is complete. Not disconnecting your controller can cause a pause during someone else’s match.

Delays & Forfeits

  • Players must be in attendance at their pool with their controller ready to play at the scheduled time.
  • If an admin calls your match and you are not at your station, you will have 5 minutes to get back to the station and start the match. After the 5 minutes you will forfeit the match.
  • Players who forfeit their first match due to a no show will be placed into losers bracket. They will have 5 minutes from when their next match is called to start the game.
  • Sharing your equipment is not an excuse for not being able to play when your match is called. Players will have 5 minutes to find a controller or they will forfeit the match.

Hardware

  • All participants must provide their own controllers.
  • Brooks converters are allowed
  • Cronus Max Plus and Titan One converters are BANNED.
  • All pads MUST be connected to the console with a USB cord.
  • All pad players MUST deactivate their controller immediately after the match has ended.
  • As mentioned in “Delays & Forfeits”, sharing your equipment is not an excuse for not being able to play when your match is called. Players will have 5 minutes to find a controller or they will forfeit the match.

Reporting Violations

All players must abide by the rules of the tournament at all times. Failure to do so will result in the loss of games or forfeiture. Violations of a significant extent may result in ejection from the tournament. All admin decisions are final unless stated otherwise by a League Operations Manager.

  • All violations must be reported to a judge at the time they occur otherwise the claim will be invalid. (Example: A player selects a different character after he won, the match is started, and the game is then paused by the opposing player to report the violation. The claim will be deemed invalid due to not claiming the violation and the time of occurrence)
  • Players are responsible for identifying all match rule violations (before & during gameplay) and immediately reporting them to the admin on duty.
  • Administrators are allowed to report any rule violation at anytime on behalf of a player.
  • Only players and judges are allowed to report rule violations. Spectators are NOT allowed to report rule violations.
  • A player will receive an immediate loss if he/she shuts the console off. (Example: A player removes the power cord from the power strip)

Pausing

  • Players are not allowed to pause a game to report a match violation. If the game is paused during gameplay the round will be awarded to the player who did not pause.
  • Accidental pauses will be treated the same as an intentional pause. The player who paused the game will forfeit the round.
  • All players MUST disconnect their controller once their match is complete. Not disconnecting your controller can cause a pause during someone else’s match.

Bugs & Glitches

All game bugs/glitches are strictly forbidden. The use of a known bug/glitch that benefits a player will result in an immediate loss of that game. If a player uses a known bug/glitch excessively he/she will be ejected from the tournament.

Administration

All participants must adhere to the decisions and rules of the tournament organizers, admins, and referees. All decisions are final, except in cases where the option to appeal is clearly stated. Conversations, either verbal or written, between organizers, admins, or referees, and SFV Open Cup participants are confidential.

Player Conduct

All players are asked to behave in a humane way towards other competitors and to any member of the administrative team; treat others as you would like to be treated! If a player is found guilty of misconduct by an administrator, they will be ejected from the venue.

  • Collusion of any kind is strictly prohibited. If an administrator determines that players were colluding, the players will be immediately disqualified from the tournament.
  • Ringing is strictly prohibited. Any player found to be ringing will be immediately disqualified from the tournament.
  • Gambling is strictly prohibited. Any players who are gambling will be immediately disqualified from the tournament and ejected from the venue.
  • Sexual acts or nudity or strictly prohibited. Anyone engaging in a sexual act will be immediately ejected from the venue and the proper authorities will be called.
  • Violence of any kind is strictly prohibited. Anyone who gets into a physical altercation will be immediately ejected from the venue and the proper authorities will be contacted.
