Samsung Galaxy and Immortals advance from LoL group A at IEM Gyeonggi

The first day of Intel Extreme Masters Gyeonggi already gave us a good chunk of League of Legends action with the teams from group A fighting to stay in the tournament and advance to the main stage matches at Goyang Sports Complex from Friday to Sunday. With Samsung Galaxy, the 2016 World Championship finalist from Korea, we had one big favorite for the title in Gyeonggi kick off the event on the first day, facing Vega Squadron, J Team as well as Immortals.

The results from group A:

  • Samsung Galaxy 1-0 Vega Squadron
  • J Team 0-1 Immortals
  • Samsung Galaxy 2-0 Immortals
  • Vega Squadron 0-2 J Team
  • Immortals 2-1 J Team

While Samsung Galaxy were able to underline their favorite role with a clean two wins and three won matches, Immortals and J Team put up a hell of fight for the second spot in the group to advance to the semi finals. After losing the opening game to J Team, Immortals came back and forced the deciding third game in the series. Here, Immortals were able to complete their comeback and secure their spot among the four teams heading to the big stage from Friday on.
