o7 Gaming comes back to life with a vengeance in week 4 of the World of Tanks Gold League North America

It was a fantastic week of matches in the World of Tanks Gold League North America. We had the most unlikely of upsets and six out of the eight total matches went to at least eight games. Be sure to check out the WGLNA Youtube channel to watch the action unfold for yourself!

O7 GAMING VS ECLIPSE

The future was looking very bleak for o7 Gaming as they were 0-6 on the season so far and were sitting solidly in last place in the league. eClipse had been dropping some extra games lately but most people gave o7 a 0% chance of victory in this match with many of them predicting a 5-0 victory for eClipse.

After barely winning the first game on Sand River, most people wrote it off as a fluke, predicting that eClipse would shake it off and sweep the rest of the series. But then o7 dominated the next two games, not losing more than 2 tanks in both games. With o7 now sitting with a three game lead on eClipse, the possibility of o7 winning the series was starting to become a reality.

Despite the less-than-ideal situation, eClipse didn’t give up quite so easily. They won three of the next four games, which brought the score to 4-3 in favor of o7 Gaming and putting the heat to o7. Either way, o7 had achieved their first point of the season by forcing the series into overtime. The next game on Ghost Town, o7 came away with the victory to win the match 5-3 and secure this match as the most unlikely upset of the season.

ELEVATE VS DARE RISING

In this week’s slugfest, the undefeated Elevate took on the second place Dare Rising to see if they could compete with the best of the best. Dare were looking to take the lead against eClipse, who had just fallen to o7.

It was an uneventful start to the series, Dare and Elevate split the first map, Sand River, 1-1. However, most people realized that Elevate had 5-0ed their opponents 66% of the time so far this season, so even the single game was an excellent start for Dare.

Dare split the next map on Ruinberg 1-1 as well, which tied the series 2-2 and tied the season record for games won against Elevate in a match at 2! Next, Elevate showed why they are unstoppable on Himmelsdorf with two quick wins which put them at match point. However, Dare wasn’t done quite yet, as they took a third game from last season’s champions before falling 5-3. Despite the loss, the fight they put up during the series was a huge accomplishment for Dare Rising.

ELEVATE VS TEAL TEAM 6

After losing three games to Dare on Tuesday, Elevate wanted to to shut down their next opponent. On the other side, Teal Team 6 was just looking for a dream as they faced the league’s undisputed juggernaut team.

Elevate seemed to be playing with a bit of a chip on their shoulder as they destroyed TT6 over and over with zero mistakes. Even with Murovanka and Ruinberg, two very defensive sided maps, Tea Team 6 were not able to pick a game off the Elevate invaders. Elevate put the match away while attacking on Sand River, another defensive sided map, which truly showcased their dominance in this match.

TOP TIER VS AQUATIC M60S

This match was looking like a close one with the 3-4 Top Tier taking on the 2-5 Aquatic M60s in a match which could have huge playoff seeding implications down the line. Both teams wanted this one and you could hear it in the team comms throughout the match.

This game started neck and neck as both teams won their ruinberg attacks which is surprising considering the map is so defensive minded most of the time. Neither team could find a lead after Murovanka and they continued on dead even at 2-2. Then on Ghost Town, Aquatic M60s showed why they wanted to win more than Top Tier by sweeping the map decisively by only losing  two tanks total on Ghost Town.

Top Tier wasn’t going to give up quite so easily and managed to pick one of the two games off of Aquatic M60s on Prokhorovka before falling to the underwater tankers 5-3.

OFFLINE MATCHES

On Tuesday, Teal Team 6 defeated the veteran team, Aquatic M60s, in a close 5-3 match. In an even closer match, Top Tier won the overtime victory against F7 5-4!

On Thursday, Dare barely put down the newfound competitors, o7 Gaming, 5-3 in what could have been a disaster for the second place Dare. eClipse rediscovered their footing against F7 with a 5-2 win.
