The Intel Challenge returns to Katowice in March this year for another edition of the CS:GO tournament. Eight teams from around the world will battle it out for a US$30,000 prize pool. Three of the competing teams will be decided through the online qualifiers while the remaining five will receive direct invitations. Today, we are happy to introduce the first three invited teams.
The teams
A total of 35 teams from around the world have applied for an Intel Challenge Katowice 2016 invitation, three of which have received an invite.
Europe
- WRTP, formerly known as Games4U. The team’s lineup includes three Intel Challenge Katowice 2015 champions from Bad Monkey Gaming. WRTP is led by their captain, Julia “Juliano” Kiran.
- Team ACER - CS:GO veterans and 2014 World Champions led by Laura “NSTY” Déjou
North America

Counter Logic Gaming Red, previously playing under the banner of UBINITED. Former World Champions and CS:GO veterans led by team captain, Christine “Potter” Chi
Additionally, one Asian and one Latin American team will also receive direct invitations. They will be announced together with the qualifier winners.
The qualifiers
The online qualifiers are open to any team that can get a roster of five women together and sign up at the ESEA tournament website:
The two top teams from the European qualifier and the top team from the North American qualifier will secure a slot in the Intel Challenge Katowice 2016. The qualifiers begin tomorrow, January 24th, so be sure not to miss your chance! Travel and accommodation will be covered for all participating teams.

Intel Challenge Katowice 2016 will take place on March 4th to 6th during the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship. The group stage will be played on-site whereas the playoffs will take place on the Intel Extreme Masters Expo stage. The playoff matches will feature a high-quality stream so keep your eyes peeled for further information about the event to not miss any of the action.
