On the second day of CS:GO at IEM Katowice, it was time for last years runner up SK Gaming to take the stage, alongside a strong group to fight for yet another title to their shelf. After seeing the last years champion Fnatic get eliminated in Group A and a tie breaker being needed to determine the final placements of the top three teams, we were treated by another day packed with CS:GO action.
Group B
Both fan favorites SK Gaming and Virtus.pro started off with an 0-2 record, losing games to Natus Vincere and North as well as Cloud9 and Na’Vi respectively, setting a lot of pressure on both teams to stay alive in the tournament. Only Virtus.pro was able to crawl back from this, as SK Gaming got eliminated ealry, after receiving their third loss against them. However, the Poles didn’t make it out of the groups as well, losing their deciding match against North by 14-16, missing out the chance to play in front of their home crowd in Spodek Arena.
In the end, it was Heroic topping the group after beating Virtus.pro in the final match and advancing directly to the semifinals, while North and Natus Vincere will have to play the deciding quarter final matches versus Immortals and Astralis respectively today.
